Kenya – Chaos As Activist Morara Kebaso Is Attacked At Bomas Of Kenya
By Lisbeth Micheni,Kenya
Bomas of Kenya descended into chaos earlier today after goons attacked activist Morara Kebaso during a public participation forum on the special motion seeking to remove Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from office through impeachment.
The event, held to gather public views from constituencies in Nairobi County, was marked by violence and disorder, which led to the disruption of proceedings.
Kebaso, a public figure attempting to participate in the event, was met with aggression as he arrived at the venue.
“I was barred from entering Bomas at the gate. When I finally got in, I was denied the mic on the Bomas floor. Chaos erupted. I am hurt. I headed to the hospital. I live to speak another day,” Kebaso tweeted.
The situation escalated when chairs and other objects were hurled at him by unidentified individuals.
The attackers violently chased Kebaso out of the venue, triggering widespread panic.
Security personnel struggled to regain control of the scene as participants scrambled for safety.
The Master of Ceremonies, sensing the tension, intervened and urged the agitated crowd to stop the violence.
“Citizens, please stop the disruption and sit down. Let us focus on the public participation process,” the MC said.
The proceedings at Bomas are part of a broader constitutional process involving the collection of views from the public as part of the formal impeachment process.
The forum provided a platform for Nairobi County residents to share their opinions on the motion.
As of now it remains unclear what triggered the attack of Morara Kebaso.
