NIGERIA: Peller Says Hoodlums Stole Guests’ Phones During His Wedding

Popular TikTok content creator Habeeb Hamzat has alleged that suspected hoodlums stole mobile phones belonging to some guests during his traditional wedding in Lagos, revealing that he has been replacing some of the stolen devices.

Peller made the disclosure during a TikTok livestream on Monday, expressing frustration over the incidents, which he said occurred outside the wedding venue while the ceremony was in progress.

According to him, several guests later informed him that suspected “agberos” operating around the venue snatched their phones shortly after they arrived for the event.

The content creator said he had spent a considerable amount of money compensating some of the victims, adding that the experience had left him exhausted.

Peller claimed one female guest had her phone stolen immediately after arriving at the entrance to the venue, while alleging that another incident outside the event involved a road accident after a man reportedly refused to move away from the front of a vehicle.

Reflecting on the incidents, he vowed that security arrangements for his white wedding scheduled for August 8 would be significantly tighter to prevent a recurrence.

He disclosed that the white wedding would be a private ceremony attended by only 100 invited guests, with security personnel deployed to prevent unauthorised persons from gathering around the venue.

Peller and his partner, Elizabeth Amadou, held their traditional wedding in Lagos on Saturday in a ceremony tagged #JP2026, attracting celebrities, social media influencers and thousands of online viewers.

The wedding drew widespread attention after the couple received several high-value gifts, including ₦10 million from socialite Pascal Okechukwu, a reported $20,000 gift from American TikTok personality Gregory Pizarro Jr., a plot of land in Abuja valued at ₦150 million from real estate entrepreneur Lawrence Emmanuel, and a fully furnished mansion in Abuja’s Life Camp reportedly worth ₦400 million from businessman King Ochacho.

Among the guests at the event were actress Iyabo Ojo, singer Zinoleesky, Priscilla Ojo and her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, media personality Daddy Freeze, Papaya Ex, Tee Dollar and Aunty Ramota, while Fuji musician Sule Alao Malaika entertained guests during the celebration.
