NDLEA Seizes Over 12.7 Tonnes Of Illicit Drugs, Arrests 1,107 Suspects In Kaduna

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has announced the seizure of 12,724.652 kilogrammes of assorted illicit drugs and psychotropic substances and the arrest of 1,107 suspected drug offenders in Kaduna State between June 2025 and June 2026.
Kaduna State Commander of the agency, CN Maijama’a Muhammad, disclosed that the seizures included 9,091.974kg of cannabis sativa, 3,345.558kg of psychotropic substances, 301.852kg of tramadol, 2.949kg of methamphetamine, 0.315kg of cocaine and 0.004kg of heroin.
He said 1,075 of those arrested were men while 32 were women, attributing the achievements to sustained intelligence led operations aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks across the state.
The commander further revealed that 297 suspects were arraigned in court during the period, resulting in 251 convictions, while the agency admitted 94 drug dependent persons into treatment and rehabilitation programmes, successfully rehabilitating 78 of them.
In addition, 1,458 individuals received brief intervention services as part of the agency’s drug demand reduction strategy.
The NDLEA said it also intensified anti drug abuse awareness campaigns targeting students, youths, workers, community leaders and religious organisations. The latest figures underscore the agency’s ongoing nationwide crackdown on illicit drug trafficking, which has led to record seizures and thousands of arrests in recent years as authorities seek to curb drug abuse and organised criminal activities ac
