NIGERIA: FHA Management Inspects 1,550-Unit Army Post Service Housing Estate In Abuja
By Onoja Baba
The management of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, has conducted an inspection of the ongoing 1,550-unit FHA Nigeria Army Post Service Housing Estate at Jibi, Abuja, reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to delivering quality housing for the families of deceased Nigerian Army personnel.
The inspection, which took place on Wednesday, involved senior management staff of the Authority who toured the expansive estate project being developed through a partnership between the FHA and Brains and Hammers Limited.
Speaking during the inspection, Ojo described the project as a significant intervention under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that it was conceived to provide decent and sustainable housing for families of fallen military personnel.
“The Authority is committed to delivering a sustainable and befitting estate in honour of the sacrifices made by our fallen heroes. This project represents our appreciation of the immense contributions of members of the Armed Forces who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation,” he said.
The housing project was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the welfare of military personnel and their families. It is regarded as the first large-scale housing initiative specifically designed for families of deceased Nigerian Army officers and soldiers.
The estate, which forms part of the broader Renewed Hope Housing Programme, comprises one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom housing units designed within a fully serviced residential community. The development includes internal road networks, water supply systems, electricity infrastructure, schools, healthcare facilities, recreational centres, places of worship, shopping facilities, and other supporting amenities.
The project is being executed under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement involving the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Housing Authority and Brains and Hammers Limited.
The Federal Government has repeatedly emphasized the importance of housing as a key component of the Renewed Hope Agenda. Through various housing initiatives, including Renewed Hope Cities, Estates and Social Housing Programmes, the administration aims to address Nigeria’s housing deficit while improving the welfare of citizens and public servants.
Recent inspections by federal officials, including the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, have highlighted significant progress on the project, with authorities expressing confidence that the estate will provide a secure and dignified living environment for beneficiaries upon completion.
The Jibi housing estate is also expected to contribute to the rapid urban development of the area, following ongoing infrastructure expansion and road construction projects linking the estate to major transportation corridors within the Federal Capital Territory.
