NIGERIA: Ogun Police Launch Probe into Incident Involving OGITECH Students

The Nigeria Police Force has ordered an investigation into an incident involving students of Ogun State Institute of Technology and officers attached to the Igbesa Division.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night, although the police did not disclose details of what transpired between the students and officers.
In a statement issued by the command, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, directed an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the statement said.
The command said the matter was receiving prompt attention and assured the public that due process would be followed to establish what happened.
“Where any misconduct is established, appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken in line with extant regulations,” the police added.
The statement urged students of the institution and the wider student community to remain calm while the investigation continues.
The command also reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, discipline, and respect for the rights of residents, including students.
