NIGERIA: Just In: Fire Guts Section Of Federal Secretariat Abuja, Panic As Emergency Responders Contain Blaze

A section of the Federal Secretariat in Abuja was engulfed in flames on Monday morning, causing panic among workers and visitors at the complex.
The fire broke out around 8:20 am in Section C of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing plumes of smoke rising from the building shortly after the incident began.
Social media footage circulated widely, showing staff members evacuating the affected area as emergency responders were quickly alerted and rushed to the scene.
The media department of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service confirmed the fire outbreak in a brief statement. Officials clarified that the blaze was limited to Section C of the building and that emergency teams were already on ground working to bring it under control.
No casualties have been reported so far, and the cause of the fire remains unknown as investigations are ongoing.
The incident disrupted normal activities at the secretariat, with many workers seen leaving the premises amid the chaos.
