NIGERIA: “International Women’s Day” NAWOJ-Kwara Re-affirms Commitment Towards Advocating Women’s Right

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) Kwara Chapter has re-affirmed commitment towards advocating women’s right and gender equality.
In a Statement made available to African Culture Television Reporter in Ilorin on Sunday by the Chairperson Hajia Bashirat Ayantola-Bello, re-affirms commitment towards advocating for women’s right and highlighting challenges that women continue to face globally.
The Statement was issued in commemoration of the 2026 International Women’s Day, themed:”Give to Gain”, which focuses on generosity, collaboration, and supporting one another to drive gender equality.
According to her, the theme emphasizes the power of reciprocity and support, encouraging individuals, organizations, and communities to contribute to women’s advancement.
“As we mark International Women’s Day 2026, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) reaffirms its commitment to promoting gender equality and advocating for the rights of women in Nigeria.
“We salute the resilience and achievements of Nigerian women, who continue to overcome daunting challenges such as gender-based violence, unequal access to education and economic opportunities, and underrepresentation in decision-making positions.
“We pledge to continue amplifying their voices in the media and beyond, and to push for policies and actions that address these injustices and empower women to reach their full potential,” she said.
Ayantola-Bello also emphasised on the need for a collective efforts and support in highlighting the plight of girls and women in security compromised communities in the country and the w
orld in general.
