MALAWI: Designer Mabel Banda Khonje Promises Grand Fashion and Music Showcase in Lilongwe

Netherlands-based Malawian fashion designer and model, Mabel Banda Khonje, has announced that her upcoming second fashion show in Lilongwe will be more than just a runway event, describing it as a full-scale fashion and music showcase.
The show, scheduled for October 23 to 24, 2026, will feature bold designs, immersive staging and creative choreography, alongside live music performances from both international and local artists.
Khonje, popularly known as Doll Mabel, said the second edition aims to raise the standard of fashion production in Malawi under her brand, Boudoir by Doll Mabel. She explained that the event will build on the success of previous showcases staged in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
“Our goal is to create an experience that blends fashion, music and art at an international level. Malawi is ready for high-end productions that can compete globally,” she said.
Khonje, who was crowned second princess during the 2004 Miss Malawi pageant, added that plans are already underway to host the third edition of the show in Blantyre next year.
She expressed confidence that the upcoming event will not only celebrate creativity but also position Malawi as a growing hub for fashion and entertainment in
the region.
