The Presidency has dismissed claims circulating online alleging that kitchen staff at the Presidential Villa attempted to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the report as false and urged Nigerians to disregard the viral video promoting the allegation.
He said: “No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated.”
The rumour gained traction across social media platforms after a 90-second video surfaced online claiming a presidential chef had been detained over an alleged security breach at the State House.
The footage, which contained unrelated visuals of kitchen activities, official meetings and vehicles entering a government facility, presented a narrated account suggesting an attempted poisoning and heightened security response.
The Presidency, however, clarified that the claims were entirely fabricated and not connected to any verified security incident involving Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Presidency reiterated the need for citizens to verify information before sharing content online, warning that misinformation surrounding national leadership could create unnecessary panic and undermine
public trust.
