President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Electoral Act 2026 amendment bill into law, concluding months of legislative review and debate at the national assembly.
The signing follows the passage of the amendment by both chambers of the national assembly on Tuesday after an extended process involving revisions and harmonisation of provisions in the proposed legislation.
The new law is expected to shape Nigeria’s electoral framework ahead of future zñz, although details of the amen ndments were not immediately outlined at the time of signing.
