Vice President Kashim Shettima returned to Abuja on Saturday morning after completing a week-long diplomatic and economic engagement in Guinea-Conakry and Switzerland.
He arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport following his representation of President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea’s transitional President Mamadi Doumbouya and his leadership of Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.
A key highlight of the trip was the commissioning of Nigeria House Davos Nigeria’s first permanent sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade. The facility is designed as a long-term investment showcase for opportunities in solid minerals agriculture and the digital economy.
During a high-level WEF session titled “When Food Becomes Security”, Vice President Shettima presented Nigeria’s emerging national food security framework describing agriculture as a strategic pillar for national security and macroeconomic stability.
He also participated in the Accra Reset Initiative a forum pushing for African industrialisation through domestic capital local value chains and reduced dependence on foreign aid.
On the economic side, the Vice President addressed investors stating that Nigeria’s macroeconomic indicators were showing signs of stabilisation.
He cited a projected GDP growth of 4.4 per cent in 2026 and a drop in inflation to 12.94 per cent as evidence of improvi
ng conditions.
