MALAWI: Bushiri Reaffirms Support for Arts and Entertainmebnt Sector

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting various art and entertainment activities in Malawi.
Bushiri made the remarks when he presented a K50 million cheque to Thandie Chisi, who recently emerged winner of the Miss Malawi contest.
He emphasized the need for strong collaboration across all entertainment sectors, noting that arts and culture play a crucial role in promoting the country’s tourism industry.
The K50 million prize will be disbursed in three phases, with K10 million allocated to charity work and another K10 million set aside to support Chisi’s office during her one-year reign. The remaining K30 million will go directly to Chisi as personal earnings.
Meanwhile, Bushiri, popularly known as Major 1, also announced that he will provide K12 million to the second and third runners-up in the competition.
Irene Navicha finished second, while Tina Mkombezi came third durinh the contest.
