NIGERIA: OSGF Pledges Full Digitisation Of Records And Processes To Boost Efficiency
BY Onoja Baba, Nigeria
Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume has reaffirmed his office’s dedication to comprehensive digitisation of administrative records and workflows, aligning with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2025 to promote digital governance, operational efficiency, and greater transparency.
The assurance came during the flag-off ceremony of the One Government Cloud Enterprise Content Management System in Abuja, an initiative spearheaded by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Didi Esther Walson-Jack. As the central coordinating body for government policies and programmes, Akume explained that the new system will equip the OSGF with a secure, integrated platform for managing official documents, streamlining workflows, and facilitating seamless inter-ministerial communications, ultimately enhancing timeliness, accuracy, and informed decision-making.
Walson-Jack praised the SGF and his team for embracing the Enterprise Content Management System, noting that reliance on paper-based processes is no longer sustainable for an office tasked with coordinating Federal Executive Council affairs and frequent engagements with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. She highlighted that the digitisation drive will ensure records are securely stored, easily traceable, and readily accessible, fostering smoother operations and more effective governance.
The deployment on the One Government Cloud platform, she added, introduces electronic approvals, process automation, and performance improvements across the civil service. The rollout marks a significant step toward modernising public administration, reducing bureaucratic delays, and bolstering accountability in service delivery.
The initiative reflects broader efforts under the current administration to leverage technology for responsive and transparent government operations, with stakeholders expressing optimism that full implementation will transform how federal institutions handle information and collaborate.
