Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has extended festive support to widows and vulnerable individuals in the Christian community by distributing essential food palliatives in preparation for Christmas celebrations.
The gesture, carried out on Monday, will reach more than six thousand beneficiaries, including one thousand six hundred and five internally displaced persons, each receiving a bag of rice, a carton of spaghetti, and a gallon of cooking oil.
The distribution continues a longstanding tradition under Governor Zulum’s administration, marking the sixth consecutive year of such targeted assistance to Christian widows and vulnerable groups since his inauguration in 2019. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to foster inclusivity and provide relief amid lingering challenges from insurgency-related displacement in the state.
Community leaders and recipients have expressed appreciation for the timely intervention, which aims to ease hardships during the yuletide season. The governor’s office reiterated commitment to equitable support across religious and social lines as part of broader humanitarian policies in Borno.
