Security agencies across the country have heightened vigilance as the festive season begins, with authorities warning criminal gangs and unruly groups against attempts to disrupt public peace.

Busia County Commissioner Stephen Orinde said security teams are on high alert following intelligence reports of youth forming unregistered groups to engage in criminal activities. “We are in the festive season and have information about young people forming groups to disrupt peace. Our security team is on alert to protect the public, and any unregistered groups with unknown activities will not be tolerated,” he said.
Orinde also urged artisanal gold miners to observe safety standards and use proper protective gear, noting that the government will work with stakeholders to ensure safer mining operations. He further expressed concern over declining school performance, which he linked to rampant night parties, saying authorities will intensify efforts to curb disco matanga in order to reduce early pregnancies and school d
