Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has announced the facilitation of major infrastructural projects for her alma mater, Federal Government College Idoani in Ondo State, 28 years after she served as Head Girl of the 1997 set.
The projects, expected to be completed in 2026, include a 2,000-seat capacity auditorium, a 500-seat multipurpose hall, ten staff quarters, three hundred solar-powered streetlights, and a 50,000-litre solar-powered water system.
In a post on her verified social media handles, the senator described the intervention as an act of gratitude rather than politics.
“FGC Idoani nurtured my character, discipline and leadership; thus, giving back to my alma mater isn’t politics, it’s gratitude,” she wrote.
The announcement coincides with her 46th birthday celebration Tuesday.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, a 1997 graduate of the college, has consistently highlighted the role her secondary school education played in shaping her public service career. The multi-billion naira legacy projects are expected to significantly upgrade facilities at the 50-year-old unity school and improve the learning environment for current students.
“Pro Unitate,” she signed off, invoking the motto of the Federal Unity Colleges.
