By Moses Punyuah, Nairobi Kenya
Kenyan President William Ruto, on Sunday, joined Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the groundbreaking of the multi-billion shilling Devki Steel Factory in Osukuru, Tororo District, Uganda.

The ceremony marked a major milestone in regional industrial growth, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to deepening economic cooperation between Kenya and Uganda.
President Ruto hailed the investment as a game-changer for East Africa, saying:
“This transformative investment will not only serve Uganda but also Kenya, and the region. Sitting on more than 400 acres, the facility will cut our import bills, create jobs, build new value chains and expand opportunities.”

President Museveni welcomed the partnership,
“We undertake to keep working together to facilitate quality and transnational investments that will further Africa’s industrialisation ambition, boost intra-African trade and drive sustainable development.”
The Devki Steel Factory is expected to significantly enhance the region’s manufacturing capacity and strengthen cross-border value chains.
