President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday received the newly nominated Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in what marked his first official engagement with the new military leadership.
Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sunday Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye.
The closed-door meeting, according to a statement released by the Presidential media team, centred on discussions around national security priorities, counterterrorism strategies, and enhanced inter-agency coordination.
The details of the meeting is yet to be made public.
The new appointments, announced earlier last week, are part of the administration’s broader efforts to reinvigorate the nation’s security architecture and ensure more effective responses to evolving threats.
