This was disclosed by Balarabe Kiru, the Director of Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Education, in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to the statement, the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Umar Doguwa, said the decision to delay the school resumption was due to certain urgent reasons, which were not disclosed. Balarabe, quoting Doguwa, assured that a new resumption date would be communicated to the public soon.
”I wish to inform pupils, students and parents that the announcement earlier made for school resumption on 8th and 9th Sept 2024 is now being postponed. This is due to some urgent reasons that will help in improving the provision of a conducive learning atmosphere for our children. Another date for the resumption will be announced in due course, ”.
Balarabe, appealed to students, parents, and guardians to bear any inconveniences the postponement may cause.
“Those are actions that must and will be taken in the coming days. For now, our nation must mourn and honor our 17 young ones who lost their lives, and we must stand in solidarity with their families, friends, relatives and schoolmates.”
