Two people are feared dead following a bus accident that occurred at Nanjiri Bridge in Lilongwe earlier today.

According to eyewitness Memory Mgona, the bus was traveling from Lilongwe to Blantyre when it collided with a tipper truck coming from the Nathenje direction.

Mgona said the impact was severe, leaving several passengers injured and causing heavy traffic along the route.
Local authorities and emergency responders rushed to the scene to assist victims and clear the wreckage.
Police are yet to release an official statement on the number of casualties, but eyewitnesses report that the accident appeared fatal due to the extent of damage on both vehicles.
Meanwhile, residents in the area have urged drivers to exercise caution when crossing Nanjiri Bridge, which has become a frequent accident hotspot.
