NIGERIA: LASG Issues Traffic Advisory as Adeniji Adele–CMS Road Repair Begins Sunday
By Hamzat Ameenat, Lagos, Nigeria
The Lagos State Government has announced a six-week traffic management plan ahead of the commencement of repair works on the Adeniji Adele Interchange Junction to CMS corridor, a critical section linking Lagos Island to the mainland.
According to the advisory released by the Ministry of Transportation, the rehabilitation will begin on Sunday, October 12, 2025, and is scheduled to run through Sunday, November 23, 2025, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. daily.
To minimize disruption to motorists, the government said only one lane will be closed at a time, while the remaining lanes will remain open to traffic throughout the repair period.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, assured that traffic management officers would be strategically deployed to the area to ease movement and guide motorists throughout the rehabilitation process.
Osiyemi stated: “We appeal to all road users to cooperate with our traffic personnel and adhere strictly to their directives. The temporary lane diversion is a necessary part of the Federal Ministry of Works’ plan to rehabilitate the road and ensure lasting improvement in road quality.”
The commissioner emphasized that the project, though temporary, is essential to improving road infrastructure and reducing long-term congestion in the Lagos Island axis.
He also urged drivers to exercise patience and plan their travel routes ahead, noting that the government is committed to minimizing inconvenience during the construction period
