Kenyan President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has announced the first three Cabinet Ministers and several key government appointments as he begins forming his new administration.

According to the statement released from the Office of the President and Cabinet, Honourable Alfred Gangata, Honourable George Chaponda, and Honourable Joseph Mwanamvekha have been appointed as the first three Cabinet Ministers under Mutharika’s new government.

In other senior appointments, Honourable Enoch Chihana has been named Second Vice President, while Dr Justin Saidi has been appointed Chief Secretary to the Government, with Stuart Ligomeka serving as his Deputy.
President Mutharika has also appointed Kiswell Dakamau as the Chief of Staff responsible for government buildings.

Additionally, Richard Luhanga has been named Inspector General of the Malawi Police Service, deputised by Stain Chaima and Noel Kaira. Lieutenant General George Jafu has been confirmed as the Commander of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF).
Speaking after making the appointments, President Mutharika said the new leadership team reflects competence, patriotism, and regional balance.
“My government will continue to appoint people based on merit and commitment to serve Malawians. This is a government for all, not just for one tribe or region,” said Mutharika.
The President is expected to announce the remaining Cabinet positions in the coming days as he completes the process of forming his full government.
