Kenyan President William Ruto, on Friday, announced the nationwide rollout of the KSh5 billion NYOTA programme, a government–World Bank partnership aimed at empowering youth entrepreneurs across Kenya.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, Ruto said the initiative will provide KSh50,000 business grants to 100,000 young people drawn from all of Kenya’s 1,450 wards.
He said each ward will benefit 70 youth, enabling them to launch and grow small businesses.
“This is a historic investment in our youth. Through NYOTA, we are unlocking opportunities, driving innovation, and building enterprises that will power Kenya’s economic growth,” the President declared.
The programme, he added, will foster inclusivity by involving leaders from the Executive, Legislature, and county governments, ensuring fairness and accountability in beneficiary selection.
“We have adopted a whole-of-government approach in delivering NYOTA to guarantee smooth and successful implementation,” Ruto said.
