KENYA: Three Mombasa Men Charged With Defiling Two Boys, One Mentally Ill

Three men have been arraigned at the Mombasa Law Courts over disturbing allegations involving the sexual abuse of two minors aged 15 and 12 one of whom is reported to have a mental condition.
The accused, identified as Abdalla Omar Athuman (alias Babu), Shukri Aden Ali (alias Maalim), and Salim Chege Rimo (alias Rasta), are said to have committed the offences in Ganjoni, Mombasa County, between August 15 and August 25, 2025.
Appearing before Resident Magistrate Green Odera, the suspects faced multiple charges, including committing indecent acts and unlawful penetration of a minor offences under the Sexual Offences Act.
One of the suspects, Ali, faces an additional charge of attempting to defile a 12-year-old boy over a period spanning from 2024 to August 2025.
All three pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution, led by Purity Musembi, opposed bail, citing community anger over the incident which could pose a risk to the suspects’ safety if released.
The court ordered a pre-bail report from the Probation and Aftercare Services to help determine the possibility of bond.
The case is set for mention on September 15, 2025
