Nigeria – South-East Operating Under Different Parties From APC Is Responsible For Perceived Marginalisation – Ganduje

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has suggested that the perceived marginalization of the Igbo in Nigeria’s political landscape could be mitigated by consolidating political power under one party in the South-East.

Ganduje argues that the fragmentation of the five South-East states among multiple political parties has weakened their collective bargaining power at the national level, thereby contributing to feelings of marginalization.

Addressing members of the Kano State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists on Thursday, Ganduje emphasized that the ruling APC is committed to expanding its influence in the South-East, beginning with Anambra State, which is currently governed by the All-Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He highlighted the party’s intention to build on its current foothold in Imo and Ebonyi states, aiming to bring more of the region’s states under the APC umbrella.

Ganduje’s remarks underline a broader strategy by the APC to increase its political dominance across Nigeria. Beyond the South-East, he also expressed confidence in reclaiming Edo State from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and retaining Ondo State in the upcoming gubernatorial elections, asserting that these efforts are crucial for the APC to maintain a strong national presence.
