The Nigeria Police Force says its operatives have arrested eight suspected kidnappers and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in coordinated operations in Delta and Kaduna States.
The Force said the operations, which were intelligence led, also resulted in the rescue of an abducted victim and the interception of arms being transported across states.
In Kaduna State, police rescued one Hussaini Ibrahim who was abducted from Jagindi Tasha Village in Jema’a Local Government Area.
The victim was abandoned in a nearby forest after operatives launched a coordinated operation.
Investigations that followed led to the arrest of four suspects identified as Umar Yusuf Jabiri, Buhari Muhammad also known as General, Ahmadu Nasiru, and Zakari Saleh.
Police also recovered one AK 47 rifle and two locally fabricated rifles.
In a related operation, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted a suspicious waybill from Jos to Gusau.
A detailed search revealed an AK-47 rifle concealed inside a sack. Further investigations led to the arrest of two suspects, Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa, who had arrived in Gusau to take delivery of the weapon.
In Delta State, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team supported by the X Squad and Buffalo Patrol units raided a kidnap gang hideout along Ibusa Road.
They arrested one Chiadiji Collins, also known as Smooth, a 42-year-old suspect linked to several abductions in the Asaba axis.
A search of his residence in Ewulu community led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and forty rounds of live ammunition.
Further investigations resulted in the arrest of another suspect, Ezechie Andrew, found in possession of two pump-action guns and cartridges.
The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, commended the bravery and professionalism of the operatives.
He said the successes reflect proactive intelligence gathering and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, collaboration, and community engagement.
