The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami (Sami Gomo II), has passed away at the age of 81.
Family sources confirmed that the traditional ruler died on Saturday night in a London hospital where he was receiving medical treatment.
The Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abubakar Dusti-Maigari, who announced the development on Sunday, described the late monarch as a man of courage and dignity who served his people with dedication.
According to him, “The government and people of Kebbi State deeply mourn the loss of the Emir of Zuru. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and gives his family and the emirate the strength to bear this great loss.”
The late Emir is survived by four wives and seven children. Details of his funeral rites will be released in
due course.
