ZIMBABWE: MALGA President Elected UCLG Africa Southern Region Vice President

The President of the Malawi Local Government Association (MALGA), who is also the Mayor of Blantyre City, Isaac Jomo Osman, has been elected as Vice President of the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa) Southern Region Caucus.
The elections are currently taking place in Harare, Zimbabwe, where local government leaders from across the southern African region have gathered to elect new office bearers and discuss regional development issues.
Osman’s election to the influential regional body marks a significant milestone for Malawi’s local government leadership. His new role is expected to strengthen Malawi’s representation in regional governance matters and enhance cooperation among cities and municipalities within the Southern African region.
As Vice President of the Southern Region Caucus, Osman will work closely with other regional leaders to promote decentralization, improve service delivery, and foster sustainable urban development.
