Real Madrid have reportedly finalised an agreement with Xabi Alonso to become the club’s new head coach.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Alonso has signed a contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until 2028.
The former Spanish international, who is currently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, is expected to begin his tenure during the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
Romano announced the development on Monday via his official X account, confirming that all details had been settled.
“Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid, here we go,” he posted, describing the move as confirmed and sealed.
The deal reportedly includes a fully arranged coaching staff, with all preparations in place for a smooth transition.
Real Madrid are expected to formalise the departure of Carlo Ancelotti in the coming weeks.
Ancelotti, who returned to the club for a second spell in 2021, is set to leave after guiding Madrid to several domestic and international trophies.
The Italian’s exit will mark the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter under Alonso.
Romano added that Real Madrid are planning to unveil Alonso before the Club World Cup campaign kicks off.
