Wike Reiterates Stance Against Atiku’s Presidency, Says He Has No Regrets

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reiterated his position against supporting Atiku Abubakar’s presidential bid, citing concerns over fairness and equity within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during an interview with journalists, Wike emphasised his transparency and consistency in political decisions.
“Now at my level, I came out in this country and said I was not going to support Atiku’s presidency because there’s no fairness, justice, or equity as far as PDP was concerned,” Wike stated.
He added that his stance was never hidden, contrasting himself with others who act inconsistently: “I’m not like them, to come out in the day and say a different thing, then come out at night and say something else.”
Wike clarified that his decision to oppose Atiku’s candidacy was his personal choice and that he remains unapologetic about it. “I have no regrets about it,” he declared.
Addressing speculations about joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wike denied ever discussing such a move with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or any other individual. “The President knows I never spoke with him any day to say I’ll go to APC. I never told anybody that,” he said.
Wike concluded by questioning anyone within the PDP who might intimidate him, asserting his independence in making political decisions: “Who’s that person in PDP that I’ll be afraid of?”
