Desmond Elliot, popular Nigerian actor and politician, has publicly refuted recent allegations about his sexuality, dismissing rumors that he is gay as baseless and labeling them a “publicity stunt.”
The rumors started after an online blog post named Elliot among other Nigerian celebrities, alleging they were gay.
The list quickly went viral, igniting a heated backlash on social media and sparking debate among netizens.
Addressing the rumors in a recent interview with TVC, which aired Friday, Elliot responded firmly, expressing disbelief and emphasizing that such claims would not affect his life or work.
“Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it does not affect my life either way?” Elliot stated, indicating that he viewed the rumors as an attempt to gain attention rather than a serious concern. “It is an opinion that has been conceived, and I do not think it is necessary for me to confirm whether it is true or not. As long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good.”
Elliot also conveyed his perspective on individual freedom, underscoring that people’s personal choices are their own as long as they adhere to the law.
“If you feel you identify as something, as long as it is within the law, that is your choice,” he added. “People do not have to accept it, but do what you wish.”
In a definitive statement, Elliot clarified his stance, saying, “Let me say right here, I am straight. You could not find anyone straighter than me.”
Elliot concluded by emphasizing that he is not swayed by rumors or public stunts designed for attention.
He urged individuals to live within the law and respect the choices of others
