Veteran Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu, has publicly declared that she will no longer provide free services to her home state, Abia, due to lack of support she encountered during her health crisis in 2012.
Nwosu, known for her role in the popular TV series Fuji House of Commotion, faced a serious kidney-related illness at the time, but reportedly did not receive assistance from the Abia State government.
In a recent interview with Nollywood on Radio, the 61-year-old actress expressed her disappointment and frustration over the situation, revealing that any future services she offers to Abia State will now come at a high cost.
“There is nothing my state will call me for that I would go for free. They would pay through their nose for me to be there. I am from Arochukwu Local Government, Abia State,” Nwosu stated.
She further explained that during her illness, support came instead from the Lagos State government, thanks to the intervention of a dedicated fan who alerted officials to her plight.
“It was the fame I had through the roles I played in the series then that helped me when I needed help. The person who called the Lagos State government did it because I was her favourite actor,” she added.
Nwosu’s remarks highlight the ongoing issue of inadequate support for individuals facing health crises, even from their own communities.
Her statement has since sparked discussions on social media regarding the need for states to prioritise support for their citizens, especially prominent figures who bring honour to their roots.
