The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has announced the commencement of an accelerated system review, following a wave of public complaints trailing the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, made public on Friday.
In an official statement released by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, on Monday, the examination body acknowledged what it described as a “significant volume of unusual complaints,” particularly from certain states in the federation.
These complaints, which have raised public concern, relate primarily to technical inconsistencies and result discrepancies experienced by candidates.
Traditionally, JAMB conducts a comprehensive post-examination review months after each UTME exercise. However, in response to the growing outcry, the board is expediting this process to swiftly identify and resolve any underlying issues.
Dr. Benjamin noted; “The Board’s annual review encompasses three key stages: registration, examination, and result release. During the examination phase, JAMB ensures that every candidate is afforded the opportunity to sit for the test.
“Should any technical issues arise, the Board reschedules the examination for affected candidates without hesitation.”
JAMB also emphasized that it does not take lightly any interference in the integrity of its examination processes. As part of its swift response, the statement noted that the board has assembled a panel of technical and academic experts to thoroughly scrutinize the complaints.
It further stated that the review team includes members from the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners (comprising heads of tertiary institutions), measurement experts, Vice Chancellors, and representatives of the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa.
While JAMB is yet to confirm the presence of any technical faults in the released results, the Board has pledged that if glitches are identified, remedial actions will be taken promptly.
The statement assured: “Our goal is to ensure fairness and uphold public trust in the examination process,” the statement added.
“We remain committed to transparency and accountability in managing Nigeria’s university admissions system,” he added.
Candidates and stakeholders have been advised to remain calm and await further communication from JAMB as the investigation progresses.
Those experiencing specific issues with their results were also encouraged to formally lodge complaints through the official JAMB support channels for proper documentation and resolution.
