Ekiti PDP Recommends Expulsion Of Former Governor Fayose Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called for the expulsion of former Governor Ayodele Fayose due to his alleged anti-party activities and misconduct.
The PDP Caretaker Chairman in the state, Dare Adeleke, made the recommendation during a press briefing on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
According to Adeleke, Fayose’s public endorsement of the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, was one of the key reasons for the call for his expulsion. Fayose had recently praised Oyebanji during the inauguration of a road project, stating his support for the governor’s second-term bid.
“I am very proud of you. You have done well. We will continue to be with you,” Fayose told Oyebanji at the event, which many in the PDP saw as a direct contradiction to the party’s values and interests in the state.
In response, Adeleke expressed disappointment, saying Fayose’s actions were misleading and detrimental to the PDP.
He revealed that the recommendation for expulsion had already been submitted to the Tom Ikimi-led Disciplinary Panel and the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Reconciliation Committee.
“The PDP has set up a disciplinary committee headed by Chief Tom Ikimi. Our position is that Ayo Fayose must be expelled from the party,” Adeleke stated.
He further accused Fayose of aligning himself with Governor Oyebanji for personal gain, claiming the former governor was more interested in benefiting financially from the APC-led administration than supporting the PDP’s objectives.
“If a man (Fayose) shouts on top of the roof that Oyebanji came to his house 18 times in two years, what is he (the governor) doing there? Sharing Ekiti’s money, going to Fayose to give him Ekiti’s money!” Adeleke queried.
The Ekiti PDP caretaker chairman also criticised the state’s current leadership, accusing Governor Oyebanji of failing in key areas such as infrastructure, health, and education.
He noted that Fayose’s praise of the governor was unwarranted, given the poor state of development in Ekiti.
“We must confront the reality of the past two years under the present administration of Governor Oyebanji. It is regrettable that this period has been marked by a glaring lack of progress, with many areas of development and governance left unattended,” Adeleke said.
He urged Fayose to officially decamp to the APC, rather than openly aligning with the opposition while still being a member of the PDP. Adeleke called on party members to stay focused and avoid distractions, stressing that the expulsion of Fayose was crucial for the PDP’s future in Ekiti.
As the 2026 elections approach, Adeleke encouraged the people of Ekiti to reject leaders who do not prioritise the well-being of the state, while urging PDP members to unite in rebuilding the party across all levels.
“We can achieve a renewed and vibrant PDP that serves the people of Ekiti with integrity and purpose,” he concluded.
