Scottish champions Celtic have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year contract, with the option of an additional year.
The 28-year-old joins on a free transfer after his deal with Sevilla was terminated on Monday.
His arrival at Celtic Park was confirmed by the club in a statement on Tuesday evening, subject to international clearance.
Iheanacho reunites with manager Brendan Rodgers, under whom he enjoyed his most prolific season at Leicester City. During the 2020–21 campaign, he scored 19 goals across all competitions as Leicester lifted the FA Cup.
“Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year deal, subject to international clearance, with the club having the option of a further year,” the club said.
His signing comes amid criticism from supporters over the club’s inability to secure a forward before the close of the transfer window.
Iheanacho began his career at Manchester City, where he won the League Cup in 2016, before making more than 200 appearances for Leicester. He later moved to Sevilla in 2024, spending last season on loan at Middlesbrough.
On the international stage, he has earned 58 caps for Nigeria and was part of the Super Eagles squad that finished as runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The forward is expected to provide additional firepower as Celtic look to defend their domestic titles and make an impact in Europe.
