The South Sudan Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) examinations officially began on Monday, with a total of 84,815 candidates participating in the national assessments across 551 centres and 1,953 schools throughout the country.
The kickoff of the exams was marked by Vice President for the Service Cluster, Josephine Lagu Yanga, who rang the bell at Juba One Boys Primary School, symbolising the start of this important educational milestone.
In her remarks, Vice President Lagu reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving the quality of education in South Sudan. This year’s candidate demographics include 45,545 males (54%) and 39,269 females (46%), reflecting a significant 18.2% increase from last year’s count of 70,010 candidates. This growth highlights the expanding access to primary education in the nation.
The Vice President attributed the rise in registered candidates to ongoing efforts to enhance educational access across South Sudan. She urged supervisors, invigilators, and security personnel to uphold the integrity of the examination process, while encouraging candidates to believe in their abilities and maintain honesty throughout their examinations.
The exam period is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Candidates began their assessments with the English Language paper and will wrap up with Mathematics, with each exam lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes.
