President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in seven new ministers at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja, following their confirmation by the Senate last Thursday.
The ministers, who were individually screened and approved, took the oath of office in two groups.
The first batch included four appointees: Idi Maiha, who will oversee the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development; Yusuf Ata, appointed as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad, who will serve as Minister of State for Education; and Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, assigned to the role of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The second batch of ministers included Dr. Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; and Muhammadu Dingyadi, now taking charge of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The ceremony comes on the heels of a substantial cabinet reshuffle on October 23, in which President Tinubu reassigned 10 ministers to new portfolios, dismissed five ministers, and nominated seven new candidates for Senate approval.
This reshuffle and fresh appointments signal the administration’s strategy to bring in diverse expertise as it tackles key issues, from poverty reduction to housing and industrial growth.
After their citations were read by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Information at the State House, President Tinubu urged the new ministers to embrace their roles with dedication and a strong focus on implementing the administration’s reform agenda.
The President’s emphasis on commitment reflects the growing urgency to address pressing national challenges and fulfil the administration’s promises to the Nigerian people.
