As the 2027 General elections get closer, political parties and politicians across the country are warming up for the elections in their respective states and local governments.
In the light of these A House of Representatives aspirant from Ifelodun local government, Ambassador Dada Olumuyiwa Patrick, has formally declared his intention to contest the federal legislative seat representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency of Kwara State at the 11th National Assembly.
He made the declaration in Ilorin during a consultation meeting with his community members and political supporters urging residents of Oro-Ago Ward in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State to support his ambition.
“The purpose of this gathering today is to meet with my people from Oro-Ago Ward to declare my intention to vie for the constituency House of Representatives seat,” Olumuyiwa told supporters.
He expressed confidence in his chances, noting that the current political dynamics favour the Ifelodun axis of the constituency, and emphasized that Oro-Ago has never produced a representative in the House since the return to democratic rule.
“I am very optimistic because the odds favour us in Ifelodun and Oro-Ago, Since the creation of political dispensation in this country, Oro-Ago has never produced a member of the House of Representatives,” he said.
Olumuyiwa appealed to residents to rally behind him, stressing that the support of his immediate constituency would give his aspiration a strong advantage.
He added that his decision to join the race was based on a clarion call to serve the people and advance the development of the constituency, while maintaining that politics should not be a do-or-die affair and that he would respect the electorate’s decision if another candidate is chosen.
Reacting to the declaration, Ifelodun Local Government Vice Chairman, Hon. Nike Ajibola; councillor representing Oro-Ago Ward, Hon. Oladimeji Olayiwola; and community resident Pastor Philip Olaniyi Ogunleye described Olumuyiwa as a capable aspirant and urged constituents to support his bid.
The declaration comes as political activities across the country gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aspirants and political actors intensifying grassroots engagements.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has also signalled early preparations for the polls with the release of a tentative timetable, prompting politicians nationwide to prepare for the upc
oming electoral cycle.
