NIGERIA;Ondo, Benue, Bauchi Celebrate 49th Anniversary, Highlight Milestones

As Ondo, Benue, and Bauchi States marked their 49th anniversary on Monday, leaders across the states reflected on decades of progress while reaffirming commitments to sustainable development.
The three states, created on February 3, 1976, by the late Gen. Murtala Mohammed’s military administration alongside Anambra, Imo, Niger, and Ogun, have undergone significant transformations in governance, economy, and infrastructure.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, commended the founding fathers for their foresight, attributing the state’s growth to their pioneering efforts. In his anniversary message, he underscored his administration’s dedication to consolidating past gains while driving future prosperity.
“We have remained committed to policies that enhance economic growth, infrastructure development, and human capital advancement,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
He also reaffirmed plans for improved healthcare, security, and industrialization to position Ondo as an economic hub in Nigeria.
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State used the occasion to highlight achievements in agriculture and infrastructural development.
According to a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Tersoo Kula, the administration has prioritized economic revitalization through road rehabilitation, new constructions, and enhanced public facilities.
“Our goal is to strengthen agricultural productivity and agribusiness, ensuring food security and improved livelihoods for our people,” Alia said.
He further emphasized that access to quality healthcare has improved across the state, promising continued reforms for a more prosperous Benue.
The Bauchi State Government, in its anniversary message, reiterated its commitment to fostering innovation and sustainable development.
Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Yakubu Adamu, highlighted Governor Bala Mohammed’s strides in infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
“Bauchi has witnessed remarkable progress in economic reforms, job creation, and improved living standards. While challenges remain, the administration’s dedication to the people’s welfare remains unwavering,” Adamu stated.
As the three states reflect on nearly five decades of existence, their leaders have pledged to sustain policies that promote inclusivity, economic stability,and long-term prosperity.
