The Nigerian Army has once again demonstrated its commitment to combating criminality, as troops of the 63 Brigade successfully rescued four kidnap victims in a daring operation in Ugbolu Forest, Delta State.
The operation, carried out on Monday, December 9, 2024, involved a fierce gun battle between the soldiers and the kidnappers.
In a statement released on Wednesday via Facebook, Major Emmanuel Onoja, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the success of the operation. He disclosed that the troops acted on credible intelligence, swiftly storming the kidnappers’ hideout to rescue the victims who had been held captive for days.
“The rescued victims received immediate medical attention and have since been reunited with their families,” the statement read. “This operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s resolve to rid Delta State and the country at large of all forms of criminal activity.”
The kidnappers had demanded hefty ransoms from the victims’ families before the Army’s intervention.
The operation not only saved the victims but also dealt a significant blow to the kidnappers’ activities in the region.
Major Onoja further called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies, emphasizing the Army’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
