NIGERIAN: Army Foils Bandit Ambush In Kogi, Neutralises One, Rescues Kidnapped Victim

Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army on Tuesday neutralised one armed bandit and rescued a kidnapped victim during a special operation around Oshokoshoko-Obajana corridor in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Hassan Abdullahi, disclosed in a statement that the operation followed credible intelligence on the movement of bandits transporting abducted persons through the area in the early hours of Tuesday.
Soldiers from the Kabba Patrol Base, working in coordination with hybrid security forces, laid a successful ambush and intercepted the criminals.
During the fierce exchange of gunfire, one bandit was killed while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
The troops recovered one AK-47 rifle and safely rescued the kidnapped victim, who was described as weak and distressed and was immediately evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.
The statement added that aggressive follow-up operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing members of the criminal gang.
