The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intercepted counterfeit malaria drugs worth over ₦1.2 billion during a raid in Lagos.
According to the agency, in a statement shared on its official X handle on Friday, 277 cartons of fake and unregistered Malamal Forte tablets were discovered in a warehouse in the Ilasa-Oshodi area.

It was stated that the drugs, smuggled in from China’s Shanxi Tianyuan Pharmaceuticals Group, were concealed in cartons labelled as Diclofenac Potassium 50mg and falsely declared as spare parts in their shipping container.
NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, described the seizure as a major breakthrough in the fight against substandard and falsified medicines.
She assured that, with the backing of the Presidency and the Federal Ministry of Health, the agency remains resolute in safeguarding the health of Nigerians.
“This operation underscores our sustained efforts to rid the country of counterfeit medicines and ensure that only safe and quality drugs are available in Nigeria,” Adeyeye said.
The raid is part of NAFDAC’s nationwide clampdown on illegal pharmaceuticals threatening public health.
