Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface, has expressed immense joy following his Champions League debut in Bayer Leverkusen’s commanding 4-0 victory over Feyenoord on Thursday.
In a post shared by renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter), Boniface reflected on his inspiring journey from a young boy in Nigeria who used to pay ₦30 to watch Champions League matches, to now playing in the prestigious tournament.
Boniface stated, “From paying 30 naira to watch the Champions League… to playing my first Champions League game. Proud of this moment.”
The Nigerian forward joined Bayer Leverkusen from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023, in a deal reportedly worth €21.7 million.
Since his arrival, he has made an immediate impact, quickly becoming a key player for the German club.
Leverkusen is set to host Wolfsburg on Sunday as they continue their quest to defend the Bundesliga title they clinched last season, ending Bayern Munich’s dominance after 11 consecutive league triumphs.
