NIGERIA: VeryDarkMan Claims ₦180 Million Is Missing From NGO Account
By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
Popular social media commentator Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has announced that his Non Governmental Organization (NGO’s) account has been hacked, resulting in the theft of ₦180 million.
Otse made the disclosure during an emotional Instagram video on Friday, stating that the funds, meant for charitable initiatives under his newly launched Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, were diverted to an unknown account.
“Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and ₦180 million is missing,” Otse said.
“Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested,” he added.
The influencer further explained that the affected account had been placed on a Post No Debit (PND) restriction, effectively freezing all transactions.
Out of the stolen amount, ₦20 million remained intact, while ₦160 million had already been siphoned off.
“We’re heading to Jos to recover the money,” he assured his followers.
Otse also revealed that the NGO’s app had been temporarily shut down for maintenance to prevent further security breaches.
He promised to provide updates on the progress of the recovery efforts.
The Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, launched in October, received massive public support, collecting over ₦35 million in donations within hours.
The fundraising efforts gained even more traction when renowned music producer Don Jazzy contributed a staggering ₦100 million to the cause.
