NIGERIA: VDM Expresses Fear of Set-Up As Unknown Person Deposits 100M Into His NGO Account
Popular media personality Martins Otse, better known as Verydarkman (VDM), has expressed fear over a deposit of One Hundred Million Naira (N100M) into his Non-Government Organization (NGO) account between 7PM to 10PM on Wednesday, calling on Zenith Bank to check if it was network glitch.
VDM in a video expressed shock at the deposit of such a huge amount, noting that he suspects a setup. He called on Nigerians to bear him witness. In the video captioned “Nigeria I beg you guys to be my witness, I hope this is not a set up (zenith please do a thorough investigation please, Nigerians you guys are my witness on this.” The video showed evidence of his previous balance, noting that if the money was sent by a donor, the people should reach out to him.
Recall that African Culture TV reported that VDM revealed that his newly launched non-governmental organization (NGO) generated significant funds, just 24 hours after its announcement. VDM shared the news via his Facebook account on Sunday, expressing surprise at the swift financial contributions. “Barely 24 hours since I announced my NGO and its projects, you wouldn’t believe how much has been contributed so far. Omo bro (see money),” he wrote. “Time to open everyone’s eyes. Now, you’ll see the true meaning of NGO. God bless everyone that has contributed and is still contributing. I won’t let you guys down.”
VDM, who said he is passionate about improving public primary education, founded the NGO to make learning more engaging for pupils. Drawing from his own experience attending a public primary school in Gwagwalada, Abuja, he plans to purchase equipment to enhance the learning environment. As part of his vision, VDM aims to replace older teachers with National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to deliver the lessons.
He has also called on individuals, including singer Davido and celebrity barman Cubana Chiefpriest, to support the initiative. Cubana Chiefpriest has already pledged his backing. VDM assured his followers that the funds raised would be used to pay the NYSC members, emphasizing his commitment to transparency. He added that the account number for contributions remains open to the public for scrutiny.
