In a bold offensive against terrorism, troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, killed scores of terrorists in Yar Galadima village, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday after the troops responded to a distress call from residents and vigilantes under attack in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma, confirmed the operation in a statement released to the media on Monday.
He said the troops faced ambushes at two different locations en route to Yar Galadima but successfully cleared the sites, neutralizing some of the terrorists while others fled.
The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma provided critical support, deploying aircraft to target the fleeing terrorists.
The airstrikes were instrumental in neutralizing scores of terrorists as the troops advanced to secure the village. Abdullahi emphasized the promptness of the response and the effective coordination between ground and air forces, which restored peace to the affected area.
The operation highlights the military’s ongoing efforts to combat insecurity in Zamfara State and the broader North West region. Abdullahi reaffirmed the commitment of the Joint Task Force to eliminating terrorist threats and maintaining peace in the area. Residents of Yar Galadima have lauded the troops for their timely intervention, which they say averted further destruction and loss of lives.
