President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the name of Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State to the Senate for confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the nomination follows the election of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
Dr Doro, born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, brings over two decades of multidisciplinary experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement across Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
A seasoned professional, Dr Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, as well as an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy. He also earned a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice and is recognised as an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
The nominee has worked in various NHS frontline roles, including urgent care centres, GP practices, walk-in clinics, and hospital settings, in addition to leading youth mentorship and social impact initiatives both in the diaspora and local communities.
If confirmed by the Senate, Dr Doro will replace Prof. Yilwatda in the Federal Executive Council.
