Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Kenya following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
Tinubu described him as a towering figure in African politics whose contributions to democracy and justice transcended borders.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said Odinga’s lifelong commitment to national unity, electoral reform, and people-driven governance left an enduring legacy both in Kenya and across the African continent.
President Tinubu hailed the late statesman’s courage and resilience in the face of adversity, noting that his unyielding belief in the power of the people would continue to inspire future generations.
He also described Odinga as a freedom fighter and Pan-Africanist who championed inclusive governance and regional cooperation throughout his political career.
“His legacy will endure in the institutions he helped to shape and the democratic ideals he championed. We mourn with Kenya in this moment of national grief and stand in solidarity with President William Ruto and the people of Kenya,” Tinubu said.
The Nigerian leader prayed that the memory of Raila Odinga would continue to guide Kenya towards peace, unity, and progress.
