NIGERIA: Tinubu Appoints New Service Chiefs, Replaces Gen. Musa As Chief Of Defence Staff

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved major changes in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, appointing new Service Chiefs as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
In the new appointments announced on Friday, General Olufemi Oluyede replaces General Christopher Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff. Major General W. Shaibu has been named the new Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke takes over as Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes office as the Chief of Naval Staff.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, President Tinubu expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa, and other Service Chiefs for their dedicated leadership and patriotic service to the nation.
The President charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by enhancing professionalism, vigilance, and unity within the Armed Forces.
The statement noted that all appointments take immediate effect.
