At least six people, including women and children, have been killed in a midnight attack on the Ikn’gwakap community, Mushere Chiefdom, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Eyewitnesses said gunmen stormed the village late Sunday, September 14, 2025, firing sporadically and setting several homes ablaze. Many residents are still missing, leaving families in fear and uncertainty.
Confirming the incident in a statement, National Publicity Secretary of the Mushere Youth Movement, Kutyil Gashion Nahum, described the killings as “brutal” and condemned the continued insecurity in the area.
The statement read.“About six innocent persons were murdered in their sleep. Several others remain missing, leaving families in trauma. It is alarming and unacceptable that despite repeated attacks on Mushere communities, not a single perpetrator has been arrested or neutralised.”
The group called for an urgent overhaul of the security architecture in Plateau, urging federal and state authorities to act decisively.
“The government must rise to its constitutional duty of protecting lives and property. The continued silence and inaction only embolden terrorists,” Nahum added.
The statement also appealed for unity and vigilance among communities in Mushere and Bokkos while pressing peacefully for justice and lasting peace.
This latest incident adds to a string of violent attacks in Plateau and neighbouring states, where herder-farmer clashes and banditry have left hundreds dead in recent years.
